Waned Edge Coffee Table

This single slab of mesquite came from deep South Texas. Though the sawyer trimmed it to a rectangle, a corner of one side trailed off in bark and sapwood, offering a perfect opportunity for carving. Another piece of wood might suggest a similar approach, but this is one of a kind. There won't be another just like it.Available custom built. $1650 to $1850

Black walnut, curly maple, glass, stainless steel.Although this design was directly influenced by Japanese design, (for instance, Torii gates), echoes of that tradition are also seen in Arts & Crafts and Danish Modern furniture as well. This piece was shown in the 2009 Texas Furniture Makers' Show in Kerrville, Texas.

Quartersawn white oakIn a departure from the Stickley originals, the proportions are lighter as is the natural color in lieu of the dark fumed finish prevalent in the Arts & Crafts era. Each table requires 48 mortise and tenon joints. Drawers are of dovetail construction with maple sides and bottom.

PecanThe dropleaf/gateleg concept has been around a long time. The design allows the width of this table to be reduced to 14".
It was commissioned by an Oregon couple who wanted to make room for drum kit, keyboards and multiple amplifiers after dinner with musician friends.

Camel Backed Chest

Unidentified primary wood, ebonized mahogany, cedar, cast brass hardware.This chest with coopered top was built for an Old Timers award at the annual meeting of a Texas police officers organization. The single 1" x 12" board used was the only one of it's kind in a mixed lot, salvaged from a Missouri barn, brought to Texas 20 years ago and stored unused, again. Nobody consulted to date has been able to identify it.

Blanket Chest

Spalted pecan, red maple, aromatic cedar.This blanket chest was made to fit across the foot of a queen sized bed. The post and panel structure is spalted pecan with Shaker style raised panels of maple. The bottom is lined with aromatic cedar, as is a lift out sliding tray.

Quartersawn white oak, stained glassThis is a custom made variation of a mahogany wall cabinet of mine the client had seen and liked. Meant to display prized crystal, it sits on a console table before a glass wall, thus the glass back side. The client, an architect and admirer of Frank Lloyd Wright designed the stained glass for the door himself.
